I theorized that for a good five years or so, every arena in America had a CD that was copied and sent to every other. You could go to a Dodgers game or a Buffalo Sabres game and get the same music. Not to mention every sports bar in America was playing the same stuff too.
Now, thankfully, we've got some new stuff at the arena. If you've been to a sporting event in the last month, you have definitely heard this new ditty from Kevin Rudolf:
I couldn't tell you the first thing about Rudolf, other than he shares his name with a reindeer. But the song is a good one for sports. It's upbeat, fun and pump up. The other song I keep hearing is this new one from Nickelback. And I know this wasn't on the old arena CD, because the former Nickelback selection was "Savin' Me". Check out "Gotta Be Somebody":
This song is alright, but I'm convinced that with the lead singer Chad Kroeger's voice sounding as it does, they could pretty much play any Nickelback song and it would suffice in an arena. It's definitely got that rock flare that works perfect in sports.
Speaking of that, here's another I've been hearing a lot. This one screams arena song. It's called The Feel Good Drag, by Anberlin:
It's a little too hard rock for me, but considering this one is likely to be played in every arena for the next year, you might as well know what you're hearing. Finally, the last song I've heard most frequently is British band Keane's new hit "Is It Any Wonder". This is actually a really good song, even though when I first saw these guys on TV I never would have thought, "future arena music".
It's good, isn't it? And pump up. And while we're on the whole new music at arenas kick, while I haven't heard this one yet I'm going to predict based on its motion picture success that this next song will be the next one blaring through high wattage speakers at the next sporting event you attend:
Enjoy the tunes. And now when you're at the next game, you'll know what they're playing. I knew we here at BERNing were here for something...
