- The Penguins landed aging forward Bill Guerin from the brutal Islanders for a conditional draft pick. He's 38 years old, but was second on New York with 16 goals and 20 assists this year. Pittsburgh also claimed 4th-line winger Craig Adams off waivers. The Blackhawks released Adams a couple of days ago. These two deals only add to a busy week for the Pens, who acquired former duck Chris Kunitz last Thursday for defenseman Ryan Whitney.
- Calgary currently holds the 3rd seed in the Western Conference with 82 points and the Northwest division lead, and the Flames added center Olli Jokinen from Pheonix for young center Matthew Lombardi and right winger Brandon Prust. Calgary also grabbed d-man Jordan Leopold from Colorado.
- The Coyotes weren't done there, as they sent Derek Morris to the Rangers for defenseman Dmitri Kalinin and forwards Petr Prucha and Nigel Dawes. New York also acquired Nik Antropov from the Maple Leafs.
- The Bruins have the best record in the Eastern Conference, but they didn't settle at the deadline. Boston picked up Mark Recchi from Tampa Bay, and Steve Montador from Anaheim. The B's sent Petteri Nokelainen to Anaheim for Montador, and the combo of Martins Karsums and Matt Lashoff to Tampa, along with a 2nd round pick.
- Chicago sent defenseman James Wisniewski to the Ducks for Samuel Pahlsson. The Blackhawks also received Logan Stephenson and a conditional fourth round pick in this year's draft. Anaheim also got center Petri Kontiola from the Hawks.
Not a lot of huge moves, but others were made. Unlike in baseball's trade deadline, hockey teams have been shifting players all over North America. For puckheads, this was a pretty interesting day.
