With college football over officially, it's about time we start taking college hoops a bit more seriously. So, for the weeks leading up to the NCAA tourney, BERNing on Sports will be taking a look at some of the fine individuals that will likely be playing meaningful ball come March.
Jonny Flynn - Syracuse University

Soph., PG
6'00" 180 lbs.
First things first, if Johnny Flynn's six feet tall, than I'm 6'2" (ed. no
te: I have to lie to say I'm 5'11). Outside of that, there isn't much to dislike about the young preacher's son from Niagara Falls, NY. Well, Rutgers fans could certainl
y take issue with that, but, we'll get to that in a moment.
What You Should Know About Him:
Flynn's a young leader for the now #8 Syracuse Orange, a point guard with great court vision and an amazing ability to take over a game how ever needed. Whether it's putting the ball in the hole or dishing it to a teammate to do the same, he's a very skilled player. Against him is his size, and his sometimes negatively perceived aggressiveness. Problem is, while Flynn's known as a nice kid off the court, on it, he thinks he's Tom Cruise, which can sometimes piss off opponents.
What You Likely Don't Know About Him:
The NBA isn't his preferred destination post-college. No, Mr. Flynn would rather play ping-pong. And he's got the competitive fire to make that dream a reality.
NBA Someday?
Seems highly unlikely that you won't be seeing this guy play somewhere. He doesn't have prototypical NBA PG size, but, then again, neither did Damon Stoudamire. His speed, desire, and ability are too much to ignore.
Random Highlight
You've heard of a T-bag Dunk, no? Essentially, the goal is to jump over the opposition, and place one's genitals in the opponents face. Jonny Flynn did just that to Rutgers rook Mike Rosario.
Is Flynn just a reinvinted version of Dee Brown, who played for the Illini, as far as his NBA prospects are concerned?
ReplyDeletegood comparison...size and college careers similar (outside of the fact that flynn likely wont stick around as long or play around as great of players as brown did)...i didn't see brown play too much living out east, but, as a former orange(man?) i hope he doesn't have the same fate as brown
